Banque de l’Habitat housing loans — ceiling, rate and who qualifies

A Banque de l’Habitat housing loan is a subsidised loan for Lebanese people on low and middle incomes and people with special needs, used to buy, build or restore a home. The ceiling was raised to US$100,000 in June 2025, and the annual interest rate was cut to 5.75% from 1 July 2026.

What is the interest rate on a Banque de l’Habitat housing loan?

5.75% a year from 1 July 2026, reduced from 6%. The cut followed the Banque du Liban governor’s approval exempting the bank from the 0.25% annual management fee charged on the Arab Fund loan, and it also applies to earlier loans from that same source, from the last instalment of the current contractual year.

Restoration loans in Lebanese pounds can be used to adapt a home to the needs of a person with a disability. A dedicated “restoration loan” for people with special needs was proposed to the Minister of Social Affairs on 4 July 2026 — that one is a proposal, not a product on offer.
